Love this place – The food has never disappointed me, the service is always pretty good. I usually get stuff to-go here though. The painted ceilings and walls are so cute, and the gayhorhood atmosphere is fun fun fun. My only qualm, is that the menu doesn't describe the dishes- and with items like La Jolla Chicken- well I don't know what that is, so i've been known to ask a waiter to describe several items since there's no description whatsoever. Heavenly!!! – Between you and me, any of the Barnaby's is a winner. Named after the owner's late puppy, this place has excellent salads, burgers and American fare. Great food!!!
Salad Gigante – OK, the salads here are big, no huge. For $7 or $8 you have a salad that needs to be split between two. The burgers are also fantastic, and the spinach lasagna is delightful. The italian cream cake makes a great dessert, as does the apple pie a la mode. Plus, if you split a salad, then you and your sweetheart can feel guiltless about splitting dessert. Plus, it's cute to split dessert.
....and Outstanding Chocolate Chip Cookies too!! – Nothing fancy, no unusual twists - just solid, delicious food. We have been for lunch and dinner - have 'ventured' through the menu and have never been disappointed. Excellent salads, sandwiches and burgers and some outstanding chicken dishes. The food is freshly prepared - ample - and delivered with a smile. Don't go expecting good service – I'm have been very dissappointed with the service at times and yesteday was the last straw. On a Sunday, I went to the restaurant around 2pm and the host would not sit me at the table I wanted. I was in a party of 2 and I wanted a booth (there were 2 open). Gnats! YUK! – Food was average; what REALLY disgusted me and discouraged me from ever coming here again were the dozens of gnats flying around our food at our table the whole time! There must be SOMETHING they can do to get rid of them, it's really gross! AND they were even in the bathroom!!! wth????

My favorite restaurant in Houston!!! – Great food I could eat everything on the menu. They have best fries in the world, good burgers, sandwhiches, salads, etc. Everything is wonderful but don't forget dessert. The pie and the Brownie a la mode is worth saving room which is not easy with the huge portions.
INEXPENSIVE BLISS – My first Barnaby's experience was at the original location on Fairview. Be prepared to fight for parking next to Bricks. Shephard is very pretentious...agree with the other reviewer...it's the crowd not the folks working there. West Gray is always busy and it's the parking olympics all over again. So, I try to stick with Fairview. Smaller restaurant but has great local art on the walls. You must try Dr. Gale's meatloaf and the lasagna beef and spinach. Very affordable food.
