Not very good food. Disappointed expected better after such a hype in popularity!!
The whole place is an experience. It's like a little cross section of the South Valley. The staff looks like the neighborhood, the food, the building itself all resound of the Valley. I didn't grow up in this neighborhood, but I love the strength and beauty of this place. Barelas is more than restaurant it's an Albuquerque landmark.
Excellent carne asada with green chile
Long time local Bernalillo County firefighters both retired and active visit Barelas regularly! Great food and friends!

Terrific food! Excellent red chili carne adovada breakfast plate. Friendly waitress. Highly recommend!
