He took as much time as needed to explain his reasoning for the surgery that I needed. I have a lumbar fusion and removal of a bone spur impacting my sciatic nerve. No question was a stupid question. I felt very confident going into surgery an I'm recovering very well and ahead of schedule. Patience is the most important trait needed.
Once I decided to have surgery, Dr. Barcohana's team made themselves available for any and all questions, whether it was medications, post and pre-op care or dealing with insurance. The care in the hospital was also great and I felt like I was in good hands the entire time.
I am impressed by the friendly professionalism of all the staff. I appreciate how they prepared me for all possibilities. Dr. Barcohana and PA Esther are amazing. Answering questions be for I ask, and actively listening to my concerns.
He worked on 4 discs in my neck that were rubbing bone on bone. 8 days post op, I had no more of the original pain and NO pain from the surgery. No need for any pain medication at all, not even Ibuprofin. I am an energetic 76 year old and I have my life back thanks to Dr. Barcohana.
I first saw Dr. Barcohana in 2014 with a herniated L5S1. After non-surgical intervention failed. I had a microdiscectomy which gave me relief for about 6 months. Unfortunately, I had a work related injury that forced my hand to have a fusion at the same location. After about 6 months of recovery, my back pain was gone. I had an L4 L5 fusion disc replacement with Dr B, he has great bedside manner and I felt took the best care of me. His PA is great as well.
