Seafood restaurants in general have been criticized for disturbing the delicate balance of marine life, but Bamboo Sushi aims to change that. The restaurant adopts sustainable practices in everything it does right from ethical sourcing of seafood and meats to its energy utilization and recycling. The menu has a fine selection of sushi, ranging from nigiri and sashimi to their signature sushi rolls. Apart from sushi, there's an excellent choice of seafood specialties with delights like seafood charcuterie and geoduck saute. T... read more

Masu East - food and sake.....awesome, awesome, awesome.... – I have eaten at Sushi Restaurants all over the US for the past 18 years. I am not easily impressed, but I can say Portland is very fortunate to have Masu East in our city. The food is extrememly fresh. The sushi presentation goes beyond expectation. The menu is very creative and innovative. The atmosphere is inviting and is very relaxing. The sake list is second to none. Restaurants with excellent sake lists are few and far between but Masu East gives the customer... read more
boring – everything about this place is BLAH, last thursday around 8 the place was dead, maybe 12 people total in the whole place, our party of 8 decided to stay anyways, seeing as how there was an hour and a half wait next door at ken's pizza. and i must say that we should have waited, while the sushi was barley palatable the drinks were not, the eye candy that they hired as a bar keep should of been running the cocktails, not making them. none of our party had much enjoyment from our experiance at masu. It's no wonder that... read more
good looking but shallow and amateurish – yes, I can't understand how you can open a sushi restaurant and then tell your guests that the sushi making is falling behind because of a group of 8 that all want sushi. They actually make you order something else and you're starving and can't wait so you do....this scenario is UNHEARD of anywhere except in Portland. I have lived in NYC, Tokyo, Paris, Milano and have NEVER experienced this level of amateurishness...don't bother going if you want sushi!
Great service at the sushi bar, beautiful decor, fresh fish – After moving here from NY, we searched for good sushi at nearly every Japanese restaurant in Portland, and Masu East has definitely been the best (although for the authentic experience, Murata is the way to go.) The sushi is incredibly fresh and the chef is highly skilled - he even imports unusual fish for special dishes on a regular basis. The service can be somewhat uneven, especially if you don't sit at the sushi bar, but the ambiance is wonderful, with soft li... read more
not as good as their west side location – the west side spot is simply one of the best in town. yet their staple, the lotus roll, was a complete let down on the west side. the decor is great and the location is nice but i would rather head west than go to this place.
Yawn – Was excited to see a new sushi place open up.However to my dismay it was nothing I haven't seen before.Great for the american taste buds, however if you want real japanese look elsewhere, perhaps Murata .Lots of glam and little thrill for the number of bucks I spent.
