On the day of the storm we took an injured Purple Finch to Avian Haven. The little bird got injured when a the tree he was in came crashing down. The volunteer girl advised us they would do their best to save it even though they believed it had a spinal injury. We have yet to call back to see if the bird made it but either way we witnessed the passion the folks there had for their work there. So glad to know we have a place near for injured birds. I brought two starling chicks to Avian Haven a couple of years ago after they had fallen out of a nest in the eaves of my attic. I couldn't find the nest to put them back in. The facility is amazing and I was given some education as well. So much care given to all different types of birds. They can help, so don't hesitate to call if a bird is in need.

Less than an hour after calling Avian Haven about an injured crow in my yard, a volunteer transporter arrived, skillfully captured the bird, put it in a box and took it on its first step in what I hope is the journey toward healing. Outstanding work.

So thankful for the volunteers that met us to transport a hurt morning dove, and the Avian Haven vet (?) that let me know that birds have a hard time breathing on their backs. I learned more than a few things today! Thank you!
