I cannot say it was good or bad! The butternut squash soup and bread pudding were excellent but we were not that happy with our entrees. We ordered the sautéed chicken with artichoke wine sauce and the beef tip pasta. The chicken was dry and the sauce was very bland. The pasta had zero flavor, seemed completely watered down! Everything needed salt, except desert! Service was average but our food came out quickly. I would try it again in case this was just a bad night!
Our soup was good, but lukewarm; there were gnats, one which landed in my wine, and the puff pastry in the apple tort was very tough to cut, presumably because it had been microwaved. In addition, we were seated at a table in a corner and when the only other couple seated in our room arrived, they were seated right by us. We have come here for years and my husband wanted to dine at Avalon tonight for his birthday, but it was very disappointing.
This was our first time trying the Avalon Cafe, very nice experience. Will definitely be back
