Can a person love their hair more than their neighbor? – I'm very glad to have found Atelier! I've moved here from Colorado and it has been moderately challenging to find a stylist that works as an artist. This small, quaint salon makes one feel elite. It's in the middle of downtown so I often enjoy the farmer's marker before my appointments! I get A LOT of compliments on my cut and color. Traumatizing hair cut, horrible service – I felt this salon had a very unprofessional feeling to it by canceling my VERY first appointment with only a half hour notice before my scheduled appointment. I was stupid enough to go at a rescheduled time. During the appointment we were interrupted several times by walk in customers and phone calls. Overall it did not go well. Best in the area – Giovanna's the best in Des Moines. I'm from San Francisco, moved here in February and went through a few rounds of hairstylists in the area -- Giovanna's by far the most skilled and pleasant to work with. My entire office gets their hair cut by her -- Anne comes out looking like Bardot and I've kept my gamine little pageboy look. The male clients come out looking like the boys I like to date. Yeees. Amazing Salon – I just got my eyebrows waxed at Atelier Hairspace and it was by far the BEST wax I have ever had which is saying a lot since i am a very picky person when it comes to that! I would recommend this place to anyone who wants a GREAT wax, haircut or color!!!
New York quality salon in downtown Des Moines. – Atelier Hairspace is an outstanding asset to downtown Des Moines. Giovanna is a true talent that takes the time to consult with her individual clients to determine what the best cut is for thier facial features and lifestyle. Excellent cut for men – I was a cheap cut, just get me in and out fast type of person. As a guy, I was not interested in going to a Salon. But my wife insisted I give Atelier a try, and I am very impressed. My hair is professional, I don't have to go as often, and I get lots of compliments.
Great Colorist – this is a great place to go where the staff remember faces with names and it's not just some "take a number" style of salon. sarah was my colorist and did a fantastic job. i'm a very picky and choosey person when it comes to my hair and always expect the best. and that is just what i got. i recommend it to anyone who wants a great color and cut along with it.
Fabulous haircuts! – Giovanna knows great hair. She spends the time to talk through your ideas but more importantly to assess you hair type, face shape, etc., and make suggestions for a hairstyle that works for you and your lifestyle. I have been to some of the best salons in Chicago and Boston and I think that Giovanna is one of the most talented artists around. She offers something very unique for Des Moines!
World-Class Haircut – Giovanna Morano is a very friendly, insightful, and inspired hair stylist. There is nowhere else in town that you can get the level of style and service she provides. The atmosphere is very cool. It feels like being let in on the secret when you go to her place. On 4th Street in Downtown Des Moines, but without any signage, you have to know where you are going to get there. Complimentary wine is a nice touch. Wireless Internet might come in handy, too.
