You probably will not find any actual artists in Artists' Cafe, as the Café is named for the Fine Arts Building, where the restaurant resides. Artists' Cafe serves reliable diner fare, such as burgers, omelets and roast chicken. The prices are a little high for a diner, but it is a better bet than the chain restaurants found nearby. The patio is a nice place to sit in the summer. Grab a bite and go play in Grant Park, just a couple of blocks away.

We ate there a few times because it was super convenient, so I was able to sample a few different things. The French toast was by far my favorite. The best part of breakfast was my latte! Yummy
The twentysomething waitress serving the outdoor cafe at the Artists' Restaurant (or Artists' Cafe, as it is popularly known) wears an outfit suitable for a workout - shorts and a loose black t-shirt. And work out she does, moving fast between bar, kitchen counter and her outdoor domain, kicking the door open, schlepping plates and glasses, bending down to reach for some papers a guest dropped on the floor. About to pick up a platter laden with hamburger and french fries, she stops and addresses the guy in the kitchen: "That... read more
We found this place walking along Michigan Avenue on our way to working at the Jazz festival. Cute outside seating area was very appealing. The food was good, diner type fare that was perfect for breakfast.
We had a pleasant lunch here. The inside is such a throwback to a 50s dining restaurant. Loved it. Food was good - I had a club called some British aristocratic name: Wellington? Huntington? Anyways...it was tasty. My bf had a similar sandwich on a croissant, which he said was also good. They have an impressive drink menu, and the dessert selection was pretty awesome.
I stopped in with my friend after the ballet and had some coffee and pie. I've been here before and just enjoyed the calmness of the place. No one bugs you and the waitstaff is friendly. The pie was excellent and the service is fast. Price isn't bad at all and you'll get classic diner food. I'd go back again if I'm in the area.
I love that they have Greek Coffee and that the waitress' attitude became really much more friendly once I did order it. I guess that touch was more throughout the place. Thanks Artist's, we'll be back.
Here's a classic Diner that has retained all the glory of the past. It's neon lights outside light up the outdoor patio, with a long counter and small booths wrapped around. The register and pies greet you walking in, and the old details of brass and leather are everywhere.
I had a perfectly satisfactory gyros; lots of meat and a pile of Greek seasoned roasted potato slices. My wife had some kind of a steak salad he she was quite satisfied and said it was fresh and tasty.
What! this place is great. the cooks wear paper hats and they have pourable mustard on every table. the sign out front can't be beat. try the Irish coffee.
