Delicious lunch – I was so happy to discover a new lunch place in the neighborhood. After trying it out, I'm thrilled that the food is excellent and at a great price. It's not a huge menu but there's plenty of choice of panini, pastas and salads. Everything we tried was really fresh and flavorful. I'm hooked on the sicilian tuna panino. And, if you love coffee, their espresso and cappuccino are some of the best I've ever tasted.
Slice of Italian heaven – Divine wine & italian food! We had a birthday dinner downstairs in the gorgeous private room, Vito brought us wine selections and basically provided a private tasting and descriptions and insight into the different wines which the guests loved, we had great cheese plates to start and a fabulous fruit tiramisu for 'cake' dessert. Good service, & Alexandra arranged everything for us fabulously. Rissotto ball appetizer was delish, and loved the garganelli with artichokes & pine nuts, and the meatloaf. ... read more
Amazing food, amazing wine, amazing service – I went there for my good-bye dinner last Friday and I couldn't have had it at a better place. I had a group of 16 people so they gave us the downstairs dining room, which had an intimate and elegantly homey ambiance. I had to change my reservations three times and Alexandra couldn't have been nicer about it, a rarity among NYC restaurants of this caliber. Vito chose excellent red and white wines for us, and Kristy (I think that was her name), our server, was extremely helpful and... read more
Not just a stop for nibbles and sips, this wine bar encourages lingering with a full seasonal menu. – The Scene There's a reason that the candlelit, brick-lined space is dominated by a giant, petrified wood bar: The friendly hosts Alexandra Degiorgio and Vito Polosa want you to enjoy their selection of Italian wines as much as they do. But they are happy to share their suggestions even if you choose to sit at one of the handful of wooden tables. Sunny yellow walls and sidewalk tables give the tiny front room a breezy feel; a... read more
Wonderful! – I held a business dinner here last night based on the glowing Citysearch reviews and was very pleased to find that they were correct. The food was amazing, our waitress was very helpful and chatty, the wine was a delight-- they even gave us our own room so we could have some privacy. There wasn't a sigh or grumble when I made the reservation and informed them that we'd have a party of 8 and that I'd need to use an AmEx (both have been problems at other places in the past). If my one visit there is indicative of ... read more
Ah-Roma! – What a lovely place Alexandra and Vito created....After having had many dinners at Aroma previously,I organized to have my sister's birthday there (she flew in from LA) . Vito actually baked a chocolate cake for her, which they presented after a wondefully inventive dinner. Their wine selection is so vast and unique that you have to ask for help, if you dont have a PhD in Wne. Their menu is held on a small scale to be able to perfect every dish, which they manage just fin. My favorites are the lamb, the monkfish a... read more
Very romantic place – Ah, yes, excellent wine selections allow one to travel Italian regions without leaving one's seat. Of course, it is a small place. Tables of two to four are easily happy here. There is a large room downstairs for parties of 10 or more. However, this is not a walk in type of arrangement. The kitchen has changed hands, but Vito is keeping it very Italian, fresh, and satisfying so far. I know of very few places where one can leave the city and still remain in it at the same time. Food and wines are superb.... read more
So wonderful!!!! – This probably one of the friendliest place i know in NY. The food is excellent prices are good and the service is ultra attentive, the wine list is a delight. Best value for money in my book. A feel good place. Try it for a glass of wine stay the whole night that s what I did. And I ll do it again.
Perfect way to relax on Sunday nights – We discovered Aroma by chance on a Sunday night. We were warmly welcomed - it quickly felt like we were visiting friends. Once comfortably seated we were told that they offer a special menu on Sundays that is more relaxed and casual than the rest of the week. And it's a bargain at 3 courses for $25 with great choices for each course. I didn't feel like eating 3 courses and that was fine too plus they have additional items off the prix fixe menu. The wine list is impressive with great c... read more
