I recently went out with Apex Mountain School to try out one of their new trips that they will be offering. They will soon be offering a Portaledge overnight camping trip. I had the most incredible time doing it. We first had the opportunity to climb a couple routes before hiking up to rappel down into the portaledges. I am not the most experienced climber but I felt incredibly safe the entire time with some fun laughs in-between to get the anxiousness to fade away. I would recommend this trip to anyone who is wanting to exp... read more

We had a great time rock climbing. I was impressed with how much time the instructor took to ascertain our individual skill levels and goals. He was extremely positive and encouraging. We learned the ins and outs of safety, and he shared as much technical knowledge as we desired. It was a ton of fun - both challenging and rewarding!

My AIARE 1 experience with Apex was exactly what I was hoping for! Scott and Liz were incredibly effective educators and made sure each of the students walked away with the broader knowledge we need to safely plan trips into the backcountry. They also put a lot of emphasis on making sure we each laid out our personal goals for the course and achieved them as well. Can't recommend them enough! Thanks, y'all.

My AIARE 1 course was amazing. Scott and Jill are real pros at what they do and were able to convey their knowledge of the backcountry to the entire class. They made it a safe and friendly environment both in the classroom and out in the field. Would highly recommend taking any course with them, you will not regret it.

Two friends and I took AIARE Level 1 with Apex Mountain School a few weeks ago. What a great learning experience. Scott and his team were super informative and really honed in on how and where to avoid Avalanche terrain. We spent a day in class learning about avalanche types and conditions. The 2nd day we prepared and practiced beacon resue really working on our skills in the event that we were caught in an avalanche. The third day we planned a route using the available avalanche reports to stay out of harm's way. We execute... read more

My AIARE 1 class was an amazing experience! Thank you Scott, Chris & Jordan for your guidance and putting together a great course! Scott is an incredibly patient and thourough teacher with just the right amount of humor that makes the class fun and informative. He knows exactly how to explain the content so that it really clicks and his experience in the backcountry shows! The learning environment these guys create is awesome for getting hands on and learning not only from the instructors but from your peers and your own opp... read more
