RecommendedHighly recommend going to Apex Mountain School for the AIARE Level 1 course. Scott, Jill and Ben do a great job educating and spreading their knowledge about the back country. I am looking forward to attending their Avalanche Rescue course!

Last week my buddy Jack Tyson and I joined Apex guide/instructor, Chris Berdoulay, on Flatiron #1. It was a great experience. While I've done quite a bit of climbing in the past, this type of trad wall climbing was not in my wheelhouse. Chris was thorough and patient in his instructions and in the way he led the climb and placed protection. I was immensely impressed with his knowledge and climbing ability. I would strongly recommend looking at Apex to fulfill your guiding and training needs for the mountains.
My wife and I took our AIARE Level 1 Avalanche course with Scott at Apex Mountain School. It was a 3 day course with the first day in the classroom and day 2 and 3 in the field. Scott is a phenomenal instructor who really knows his stuff. His instruction techniques helped drive the information home, not just regurgitating facts and figures. I had a phenomenal experience at Apex doing the AIARE 1 class. Scott Smith is an incredibly talented instructor. The goals, logistics, and educational objectives were well thought out and executed.
