Alicia is a physical therapy wizard! I was suffering from excruciating and unrelenting sciatic pain for a few weeks before I got in to see her, and after one session and practicing the exercises she prescribed as well as making the adjustments she recommended to my car seat, the pain decreased considerably - to the point where I was finally able to sit or stand comfortably for more than a few minutes. An automobile accident brought me to Apex, but a lifetime of poor body movement and support was corrected in just a few months as a result. Alicia does an incredible job of explaining the root causes of the pain and injury. Her recommendations for exercises to retrain and to balance my movements are right on the money. I wanted managed care as my sprains healed, and I got so much more. So grateful!!
Dr. Shugart has an uncanny ability to break down the little muscle movements that have created your overall issue. She immediately corrects your bad movements and reinforces it with simple exercises that retrain you muscles to work correctly. For 3 years after bilateral hip replacement I compensated for the post-op aches and pains, now i am learning to more properly again.
Alicia is the most hands on and thorough therapists I have ever been to. She remembers everything you tell her, every ache and pain. My neck and back was hurt in an automobile accident and she has helped my low back and the pain going down my legs. she knows exactly what you are trying to explain and works with you for relief without prescription medicine. I have already recommended her to people and will in the future. you leave Apex manual feeling like there is relief from your pain in sight.
Alicia really has an eye for detail and paying attention to your body posture. She did an amazing job giving me simple exercises that have drastically reduced my knee pain just by correcting my posture. She is patient and works one on one with you to meet your needs even if they change.
