Growing up on the waters of the Gulf and eating the best seafood at my mom's table, I know good stuff. I will say I was very impressed with the fried shrimp both for taste and price. The Portuguese fish chowder was very good along with the Kung Pao Calamari . I would suggest adding a little more heat/spice to off set th sweet. If you ar taveling to the Newport area, i recommend this over the more tourist places downtown. Better food. Better price.
I visited twice during my visit to Newport from July 25th through the 28th. The first visit, I had the clam chowder and fried shrimp dinner. The shrimp was delicious and the fries were good as well. The clam chowder and cole slaw were both very bland, especially the chowder. I was surprised the clam chowder didn't have much flavor. It had almost no flavor at all. The next time, I had the lobster roll and the lobster was plentiful and succulent. I would go back but I wouldn't order the chowder again.
Its not the fanciest place in the world but maybe the best Seafood we had in years. Generous portions..extremely clean and although it looks disorganized...it was served perfectly and everyone at the table was served hot food at the same time. I live 2.5 hrs away. I wish we lived closer.

Anthony's is a Must Stop for every visit to the Island. The Chowder & ClamCakes Combo is perfect for Lunch, and we frequently hit the seafood counter for Steamers...
Shrimp dinner was so fresh and cooked to perfection, calamari and marinara was lacking spice although it was cooked well and fresh. I would definitely dine at Anthony's again. I recommend going early, it was busy.
The spicy quahog is awesome. Tuna steaks were great too!
Very good fish and chips . Prices are reasonable and service good
Clams with the bellies, really good. French Fries nice and crisp.
