We always stop by during our vacation, this time we had to drive to la mesa since the San Diego location was forced to close which I feel that the grotto got the shaft in that deal. We were super pleased with our waitress and the food. They weren't too busy as we went around 730pm on a Sunday and the only minor complaint is that we had to wait awhile for refills on our drinks. Main course was fair....but, the dinner rolls were supermarket quality. We always remember the wonderful homemade tasting dinner rolls with the great garlic butter. Rates have gone up....not worth the price. Sorry folks.....

excellent food, great service and outstanding atmosphere
Calamari was excellent! Sand dabs entree very good as was the raspberry sweet tea.
