About this business

A man-made lake provides refuge to wildlife and dozens of tame ducks, providing entertainment for the diners at this long-established San Diego seafood restaurant called the Anthony's Fish Grotto. It also makes the hour-long dinnertime wait much more pleasant for kids and adults alike. Seafood is the best bet here and the daily specials offer great value and delicious preparation. The Clam Chowder, from Anthony's matriarch Mamma Ghio, is renowned, a rich red broth liberally studded with tender clams.

My brother and I ordered ‘just’ a calamari appetizer, but they brought us a HUGE plate...yum! Had a cup of clam chowder too. Next visit will be a regular dinner, like their world-famous battered shrimp & chips...my favorite since I was 10 years old.

Our first trip out to the highlands to eat at Anthony’s. The food and service matched what we’ve come to expect at Anthony’s! Recognized a couple of employees from the now closed Embarkadero site. They are very nice people and great at their jobs. The food was a good as it has always been, amazing!! Look forward to the next time we make it from Scottsdale to San Diego.

Service was very good, so can't complain about that. The mussels my wife ordered were not fresh and the old school ba... read more
