As a professional trainer, I appreciate that Dr. Elliott completed the Karen Pryor Academy program and understands the importance of behavioral health as well as physical health. Ames Pet Hospital is more than happy to accommodate pets with special needs or requirements, and if you are looking for a vet who will work with your shy or fearful pet, they are a great choice. Best vet we have ever been to. They have taken such good care of us and our dogs! We recently got a new puppy and they made his first visit educational for our 5 year old, took time with us, and made our pup feel like a KING!

We’ve had iffy experiences with veterinarians in the past, so I was a little apprehensive about our first visit with my working German Shepherd puppy. Our visit was PHENOMENAL. The staff blew me away- they were friendly, personable, knowledgeable, and supportive of all of our decisions and goals. Dr. Elliot went out of her way to make sure my puppy had a positive experience, and we are so grateful for her carefulness and expertise. We will be lifelong customers ☺️

I was in town visiting family from out of state with my dog Edward. He is a senior tri-paw and his only back foot swelled up and he couldn't even walk on it from the pain. I have no idea how this happen and it was the day before we were to leave on a 26 hours ride back home. These guys were able to get an appointment that day. They gave him an x-ray and got him on pain killers and antibiotics. By the next day he was feeling better and was able to travel. They truly care about pets here. I took my newly adopted dog in for the first time and each person we met was kind, warm, knowledgeable and asked each time before giving treats. My dog came with some anxiety issues and was nervous about the scale and the table. The staff treated myself and my dog with such warmth and kindness that we didn't have any problems. My little dog Marmalade has no medical issues whatsoever, but my sweet cockapoo Butterscotch recently passed away, and he frequently visited Ames Pet Hospital for one concern or another!
