I had a diagnostic mammo and ultrasound in January 2023 at the office in Clearwater, FL. First, and least important, the ultrasound tech missed some images, so when i was driving home, I was asked to turn around so she could complete the exam. From that I needed 2 biopsies. One type of biopsy was not able to be done at Akumin, so i scheduled the other. I ran all over Tampa, looking for a facility to perform both tests at the same time, and finally found was. Teribble wait times! At least if they would have told me it would be a 2 hour wait, I would have left immediately!!
Went for an ultrasound on a Saturday and the tech did not show up. Heard the receptionist call her boss and the call was on speaker. Boss told her to tell me and one other gentelman who was there for an appointment that the tech had been in a car accident. LOL. I told the receptionist it was not her fault and went home. Went BACK for a different ultrasound on a Saturday and was told they did not do ultrasounds on Saturdays. What a poop show.
Bed service
2nd worst experience at an imaging practice (the 1st being an alllergic rx to the iodine contrast)- here, I was told by Akumin to show up 2 hrs early for the barium alternative, I appeared, then was told it's not an option and to have the physician re-order the CT test. So I show up the 2nd time, and went through the same nonsense- they claimed not to have the new order, which was sent them 4 weeks earlier. Inbetween, I had to get new labs too. I will never go back to an Akumin if avoidable.
Cancelled appointment twice last minute.
Ten minutes early.. Not called for 40 minutes. Was placed in chair 3' in front of MRI door. Now an hour after my scheduled appointment. Tech came out and said 5 more minutes. After 15 minutes I got up to leave.. at the same time they were in the lobby calling my name. How do you not know where your patients are? And it's dreary and dark.
Disorganized office. Mismanaged appointments, missing radiology required preparation like drinking 32 oz of water, make sure the lab sent them results, the physician referral is correct, that you git a mammogram before a breast ultrasound....no worry whatever the problem it is the clients problem not theirs. Nice fantasy life for them but hell for the elderly and ill who are just trying to do what their doctor advised.
