My experience with advanced pain was one I don't wish on anyone, especially a person being an African American. My first visit with Nyguen was terrible and he seemed like he was in a rush and didn't take my conditions seriously. This was what I was concerned about when going to a pain specialist. I did not like one of the medications I was given for quite awhile. I was told it was against the law to prescribe me anything else, and that is simply untrue. Just be honest with me. The laws are public for anyone to read. I tried to be a really great patient, never gave them a hard time, always complied. But eventually I felt like they didn’t have my best interest in mind. Dr. Reed has bad bedside manner. He is trying to force me to get spinal injections for abdominal pain. He told me that was my only option and walked out of the room. He did not even discuss my other medication he prescribes nor gave me any information regarding the injections so I am unable to research. I have never been treated so poorly.
I started seeing Dr. Nguyen 5 years ago when I moved to Tulsa. Dr. Nguyen is the best pain doctor I’ve seen, and he gave me back my quality of life. I just turned 35 and have a 1.5 year old. The procedures and medications I receive allow me to care for my baby, my husband, and myself; to do simple things like chop vegetables, bathe my daughter, and go grocery shopping without misery and agony.
