I love taking my animals here. The staff is wonderful and they sincerely care about my dogs.
Yesterday I had to make one of hardest decisions of my life. Deciding Xena's destiny was not what I had in mind. HSTB has been doing amazing work with the community and stray animals for as long as I can remember. I have two rescue cats, and a rescue dog that all came from the loving arms of HSTB. They came in perfectly good health, well loved, and are the light of my life every day. The volunteers at HSTB have an excruciatingly difficult job of seeing dogs at other kill shelters be put down and often have to make impossible decisions about what animals they can and cannot take, because of legislation that is out of their hands. On 12/26/2015, I had to make the worse decision in my life... my dog child, Champion, that has been by my side for 13 1/2 yrs was in pain and suffering from health issues. I wanted to be selfish and keep him home and not take him to the HSTB... the love I have couldn't stand to see him in that condition...on his last day(s) he was no longer bright, energetic, and happy.
