Dr J. Abbott was my surgeon for Open Shoulder Surgery. He did an excellent job.
Dr. Abbott and his team were wonderful in aiding me during a scary time of breaking a bone. They were knowledgeable and quick to get me in for an appointment.
I was told by another doctor that I needed hip surgery and Doctor Abbott figured out that I had a nerve compression issue in my back rather than needing hip replacement surgery. Doctor Abbott saw me at the exact time of my scheduled appointment, that has never happened before, and he and his assistants are very professional.
The office is in the office building for WVU Hospital, but unlike most other hospitals, his office is part of the hospital and not a separate enterprise. Expect higher billing for x-rays, as they are billed as a hospital x-ray, even though they are done in his office. $100 versus $5 copay. Questions prior to surgery were answered within 12 hours; questions after surgery were never answered without me calling the office. I had my left knee replaced. I barely have a scar. The knee that I have, lasts anywhere between 20 to 25 years. I have been doing well, with it.
Having issues with my Left knee and have heard great things about him. So I went today and he was great. On time, not a long wait, office staff very nice. They also do xrays right there which is also very nice. Explained my options and also showed me the problem with my knee on the xrays as well. Would definitely recommend him Will be seeing him again.
Dr. Abbott is a very professional surgeon. But he also has a kind and respectful approach toward his patients. His surgery protocol is so perfect! I recently had a total hip replacement and I had very little pain. I’d trust Dr Abbott to do any orthopedic surgery I’d need. NO NEED to go marching off to New Albany when we have a surgeon of this caliber here in Wheeling! Thank you, Dr Abbott for your care and expertise!
I saw Dr Abbott when he was in Meadville, PA and he was excellent. Yes, I saw a PA initially but he always made a point of popping in the room and visiting with me. He did a knee replacement on me 2010 and it is still perfect. So very sorry he moved his practice to WVA! He was even by my side when the PA took out the staples. Very kind! Would recommend him to anyone!
I just want to know HOW can a doctors office not answer a phone and then a recording tells you they will call you back,,, one day.. next day... even when you explain you have a problem. Obviously its not of importance to the staff or the Doctor. Not to mention you cant even find out the results of a test for weeks until the next appointment. I have never ever dealt with a doctor or staff so matter of fact not to mention an office that has a full staff that cant pick up a phone.
