AMAX has changed ownership and is no longer the original reputable, reliable, and responsible company it once was. Avoid at all costs. I am having to turn to Small Claims court to dispute a bill for over $2000 for A/C parts that AMAX never installed! Further, when I tried to resolve amicably, I learned (** **** ***** * ****** *******), that AMAX doesn't return calls, emails, or SMS msgs. Overcharged by a ton! The most I ever paid was $225 per hour for emergency (after hours) services. The tech finished in 45 minutes and sat in his truck outside the house for 2.5 hours! I then received an invoice for $750. I called a dozen times trying to speak with someone and requesting an itemized invoice for parts, labor, etc. I ended up sending a Certified Letter and check for $250 which is the maximum I should have been charged. I had an appointment with a-*** last week for coil cleaning. I was told by the receptionist the cost for this job is $495 she sent me an e-mail as well stating this is a level 1 job. I told her that I had a coupon, which I e-mailed her. Shortly after this I received a second e-mail now it was bumped up to a level 2 job. I called the office asking to explain what the different levels mean. The lady told me this is a big job the coils have to be taking out and cleaned and the cost would be $750 minus the coupon. This company damaged my shower tiles while installing a new air conditioner. The owner texted me that he was going to repair my tiles. A week later his employee said he was not going to repair the damage. The contract said I would receive a 10 year warranty. I want future buyers to beware before hiring this company. I also reported this to ************* and Light because they are listed on their contractor website!
