Beautiful wine, service and patio... – My husband and I went to dinner at the bistro last night and had a fantastic dinner. The grass fed grilled ribeye was amazing and so was the seared scallops and ahi two ways. It was our first in and our server was so wonderful at helping us navigate the huge wine list, that has great values of hard to find wine. The space is open and inviting although it can get a little loud inside at times. I can't wait to go back and try lunch as well.
Good food, service is uninterested at best – I SO wanted to love you, 35th Street Bistro! You're in my neighborhood - one that desperately needs a great bistro. I've been there 3 times. The first was really quite good, and the service was just fine. The 2nd time, the service was so bad it has turned into a running joke with my neighbor and me. The waiter did not apologize and acted as if we were the problem (silly us - wanting our food within an hour of finishing our salads). We expected perhaps a glass of wine or dessert to... read more
NOT Worth the Money!! – I admit I had a soft spot for the former Still Life Cafe and had therefore been avoiding it's "new" incarnation as the 35th Street Bistro. But I still approached with an open mind when three of us decided to try it as part of the "Dine for Darfur" charity event (where 25% of proceeds would go to Mercy Corps). Anywoo -- we had reservations but one of our party was late. The waitress stopped by and check in and we told her we were still waiting for one more person. He arrived 5 minutes later at which po... read more
Great Food, Inviting Space – Small space, but very friendly - both the atmosphere and the staff. Nice selection of wines on the list - several wines by the glass. The lunch menu has comfort food classics like a Kobe Burger with Pont Bleu and a Bacon, Lettuce and Avacado sandwich along with salads, quiche, etc. Fairly light options. Desserts were also good and the overall experience was top notch. I would definitely recommend the 35th Street Bistro to anyone looking for a casual place to dine in Fremont. We didn't have a prob... read more
Charming Atmosphere, Attentive Service, and most importantly-Delicious Food – After visiting the 35th St. Bistro on Saturday, I cannot wait to go back. The atmosphere is quite charming with high ceilings, dim lighting, white christmas lights, and a central tree (I know it might sound a little dorm-like..but it's really very enchanting). The waitress and bussers were professional, yet very personable. ...and the food! The food was delicious. I especially recommend the pear salad, smoked duck, and baked white shrimp.
worst place in FREMONT – I thought this place was going to be really good, but then, I was WRONG!!!! So, we got seated promptly, which was good. But, I should have known to walk right back out when I had noticed that it was empty on a Sunday morning for brunch. We waited about 10 minutes before we were greeted by our "server" and once she did that she excused herself to take an order of another table. Then she came back. Took our drink orders, and food order. I asked to make sure my eggs were OVER HARD, she repeated that and... read more
An upscale, European-influenced bistro brings congenial neighborhood warmth to Fremont. – The Scene White linens and minimalist decor set the scene at this friendly neighborhood bistro, where potted plants and twinkling white lights help create intimate spaces for dining conversation. Though elegant, the bistro remains comfortable and welcoming, largely thanks to its knowledgeable waitstaff and convivial atmosphere. Groups of neighborhood locals share bottles of wine and swap stories, while couples celebrating birthdays and ... read more
Great Brunch – Great Eggs Benedict---my poached egg was cooked perfectly. SImply put, a nice neighborhood spot for a casual meal. I haven't tried their dinner menu but look forward to returning after the holidays.
Nicely done, comfortable, with good food. – This is a lovely place for a long lunch or a little late night tete a tete. I've had a number of enjoyable lunches here, but was in tonight for a late dinner/snack. Very nice ambience, the Frites are definitely recommended and risotto had a rather remarkably generous amount of Chanterelles in it. Courteous friendly service. Definitely a nice place to know about, and good place for avoiding the chaos of Fremont while still being near the center of the universe.
