When we first moved to Lawrence, it was pure luck that we moved into a house a block away from 1900 Barker. My wife and I moved from Washington DC and we were nervous that we wouldn’t be able to find great coffee and baked goods in Kansas. Fast forward 2 years. We bought a house. Part of our criteria in buying our house was that it needed to be walking distance from 1900 Barker. We still live 1 block from 1900 Barker, just in the other direction now. I normally stick to some kind of croissant because they make them the best but now they have officially ruined brownies for me. I don't think I'll ever be able to enjoy a brownie made by anyone else. I had no idea brownies could be like that.
There is not a business that I know of that has a system for ordering and curbside pickup as good as 1900 Barker. I’ve always been impressed with their outstanding service. The bread and pastries are incredible and nationally recognized. If you have not experienced it you’re missing out.
If I had just gotten the raspberry danish I would leave five stars. Was the best piece of pastry I’ve had in years!! Amazing!! But the sausage roll was salty and had burnt oven taste and so did the chocolate croissant. I was sad about it 😞 I’m glad I got the raspberry croissant though. Also wish there was some pictures of the stuff so I knew what I was ordering. That’s always the fun of goin to a bakery an picking from the display.
I wish you were located in Kansas City! This is the only bakery I will drive 45 minutes for.
The pastries are amazing!!!
Love this ❤️ bakery!! I visit at least once or twice a week. Raspberry Danish and the Morning Bun are my favorites.
