Rude Attitude – I live on the same street as Cafe Zoka, and have been there quite often. It belongs to a world outside of Seattle where total avoidance of each other is the norm. Service is rude. They will treat you as if you are a machine. Even if you can take it, Cafe Zoka's attitude is the worst way of starting a sunny sunday - Seattle has better to offer you. However their coffee is good and food tastes ok.

How does Zoka stay in business? – I am amazed everytime I drive by Zoka that it's still in business. The service is horrible and the "help" is seriously unfriendly. Why is Starbucks so popular? Because they greet you with a smile, they're friendly, the coffe is good, and are fast. Zoka staff are rude -- often choosing to continue a personal conversation with a co-worker for way too long instead of greet and welcome you. Don't expect "good morning" or "what can I get for you" -- just a blank stare. Are they hung-over? Unhappy... read more

Worst Coffee Place Ever – Painfully slow and equally rude service. Cashiers are rude and baristas are slow. I did get insulted by a cashier when I complained that it took 13 minutes to make two lattes on a Sunday night. Only one person was in front of me. She said "oh, it must be so hard for you to have to wait for coffee". I decided not to come back after that.

Please, Zoka, forbid patrons with laptops! – I love Zoka, the scones are to die for. But it's INSANE how many squatters there are who use it SHAMELESSLY like it's a public library. They stay for HOURS and the management seems to make no move to facilitate use of the tables for nonstudying customers. This coffeehouse has the best potential of any place I know, but it goes unrealized.

Service is horrible. – The service at Zoka's has made it unlikely I will ever return. I tried for awhile to give nice tips in the hopes that I would get better service, but it doesn't matter. They're aloof jerks. It used to be a nice little place to go, but now it has turned into a mess.

Never again – I have tried over the years to even like Zoka, but it just isn't worth it after the continually lacking service and atmosphere this place has to offer for a coffeehouse. I thought cafes were supposed to be places where neighbors can enjoy the company of each other and have conversation, relax, mingle. This is NOT a cafe, it is a library or study hall. It is so laden with laptops and students you can rarely find a seat. The service cold at best where baristas give you attitude and fake smiles if you're lucky. Th... read more

Attitude attitude attitude – Slow service, aloof staff who don't make eye contact, and spend a lot of time talking to each other, moving around and not actually accomplishing anything, and lots of signs telling you what to do or what not to do. Good coffee can't make up for these detractions.

Great Coffee but lots of Squatters – Let me add my 2 cents here to all the misinformed negative reviews on Zoka. It is true that Zoka suffers from folks who like to buy a coffee and just hang out for hours (often studying). And it can really suck if you're looking for a seat and every table has a single person seated there with empty cup of coffee working on their homework. However, I must defend the coffee which is excellent. People who say their coffee sucks do NOT know good coffee and would be better off at Starbucks. The... read more

Quick cup o' jo? Don't go here. – This place frustrates me to no end. A large comfortable room, big cozy chairs. Ideal coffee shop, right? Wrong. The service is so bad it borders on the criminal. Mediocre drip coffee served luke warm and surly, slow and unhelpful service are standard. Enter at your own risk.
