Never got the chance. Upon my husband's release from the hospital, Dr. Zapata's name was given to us to make an appointment within two weeks after release. I called to set up appt. and was told that he does not take new patients. I explained the referral from the hospital and the Receptionist explained that the hospital is always doing this and they have to tell patients that this Dr does not take new patients.
The doc tested blood frequently but focused on cholesterol & pushed statins rather than keeping up with research about the fallacy about cholesterol & harmful effects of statins. Hypothyroidism always comes with increased cholesterol. He did discover Hashimoto’s while under his care but did not change meds or treatment despite my being hospitalized by another doctor due to thyroid storm & cardiac issues resulting from it. I have been going to Dr Zapata for 13 years for Thyroid cancer recovery and he’s a very very good Dr. going over every detail of my blood work with me so that I understand…and Gloria The receptionist is the best I would recommend this married duo team couple to anyone for a doctor‘s office. I’ve not gotten this type care from any other Dr in Tallahassee that I see and I have 7 doctors currently in Tallahassee They work with you with anything you need. Kudos to Dr Zapata and Gloria. The Absolute Best!!!
