Didn't meet expectations – Ordered Sushi and Drinks: Though It Was Average and Overpriced! Perhaps the high ratings set my expectations too high. Maybe the dinner menu is better.
If you want Veggie Sushi - this is the place – being a vegetarian can make it hard to find sushi beyond the classic avocado or cucumber rolls. Yuki has a yummy variety to choose from.
Yummy Sushi, best in Portland – I don't know what restaurant the other ratings came from but it certainly wasn't this one! Yuki's sushi is fabulous and so well priced for the amount you get! They are extremely inventive with their rolls! I have been about five times and the food has always been wonderful. Sometimes the service could be better but the rolls are fabulous so I will continue to love this place! I recommend the Vegas Roll, WONDERFUL! :)
Best tuna I have ever had! – This place is very casual and not for romantic occasions. Don't come here if you want something fancy or upscale. But if you feel like eating a good sushi and getting fast and very friendly service, pick this place and you would be satisfied. The fish was very fresh and delicious. Presentation was pretty, which I did appreciate. The atmosphere was very relaxed, I felt very comfortable. We came here on Saturday night, so I cannot tell how busy this place is during the weekdays.
Adequate - Just Average at Best – I picked Yuki for my first Portland suchi outing based on the strong 9.7 rating here. If this is the best Japanese food in Portland I'll have to stick with pizza. The place looks a little run down, torn upholstery, etc. The greeting was far from the traditional Japanese one, and the service was inattentive and not focused. The wife's dinner came about 5-10 minutes before my sushi. The oshinko maki had no snap or vinegar taste at all, and the hamachi maki and scallions was bland, had to check... read more
best sushi restaurant !!!! – Yuki is the best sushi restaurant in Portland i ever been to. once i had super deluxe sashimi. it was sooooo fresh. and the best part was the fun plate. They used ice to keep the fish fresh, and also for decoration. there was parsley and some shells inside of the ice. it was very cool and creative. Fish was big and i was happy with the price. I recoommend super deluxe sashimi. you won't regret it !!
Fantastic^^ – Last week,We had a super deluxe sashimi at Yuki.I was so impressed that fish looks so fresh. It was served on the ice that one of the sushi chef designed. We even see through all kind of shells, parsley.I've never seen that kind of dish before. No wonder sashimi looks so fresh..on the special ice. It's not only looking,it was real fresh.. We feel like we are having a dinner at the seaside^^
Yuki has the best sushi in portland. Period. – Yuki is by far my favorite sushi place in portland, if not the west coast. I moved here from LA and in my visits down to southern california have been hard-pressed to find fish as fresh, large-portioned, and reasonably priced. The nigiri is always buttery and entirely devoid of any hint of being old or rubbery- I especially recomend the albacore, yellowtail, or salmon. The japanese food appetizers-tempura, japanese-garlic-chicken, miso, etc. are always flavorful, perfectly cooke... read more
This "restaurant" = ka ka – This was the worst place I have ever been to. Not the worst sushi place, but the worst restaurant period. Salad was the dominant theme. I had chirashi which usually has rice involved. Not here, I got lettuce. Everyones' plate was covered in lettuce in some attempt to distract away from how little fish there was. Even the desert had salad on the plate. I don't know what kind of fish they serve to everyone else, but my party got tiny, old fish. Absolute crap. Overpriced and slow as well. All in all ... read more
