DO NOT TAKE YOUR CAR HERE!! – We took our car to Yost in April to get a new water cooled alternator replaced. In order to replace the alternator in our car you need to also work with the cooling system. We took the car back to Yost 6 times!! When we got it home the first time, the bleeder screw was broken so the shroud was completely loose and bouncing around, the coolant light was on, and it was leaking coolant. Took it back 5 MORE TIMES before we decided this shop is completely and totally incompetent and could NOT resolve... read more

an auto shop to avoid – well, my fiance and i share a 1999 Honda Civic. We had the car that we bought from a Toyota dealership used with 150,000 miles on it. we drove it around town for 6 months, we had the fluids checked every couple of weeks. one morning in august 2009 I drove the car up the road. started it cold and got half a mile from our house when the car just shut off. Awesome Mechanic – I don't typically take the time to write my opinion online but these guys are worth it. I took my Wife's Xterra in to have the timing belt replaced and an engine diagnostic done due to a cylinder misfire. They called me to give me a guote and their diagnosis prior to doing any work and had it fixed the same day. I had done my research prior to taking it in and their diagnosis was dead on and their quote was cheaper than any others I had recieved. Great Customer and Car Service – We took our '78 Ford F-250 to them for a new carburetor, they installed in a day and it ran great. Due to problems not caused by Yost's work, the truck stalled out a couple days later, and they sent a mechanic to where we were stuck and he got her running again in 1/2 an hour, no extra charges required. They work on all types of engines and makes of car, and give honest advice that can save you lots of money in the long haul. Not only honest but GREAT TO WORK WITH!! – I have never felt so taken care of, I had my alternator replaced by them a month adn a half ago. THeir service is unbeatable and they actually take the time to explain what they did! Most honest shop I've ever seen – I heard this was the most honest repair shop in Austin (I did my homework prior to having 2 cars repaired) but my experience was amazing to the point I had to share...I drove up in a car as it was sprinkling with non-working wipers. He told me he wanted to look at it prior to my driving off when I mentioned this. He found a blown fuse on my washer fluid and both wipers, gave me 3 new ones, shook my hand and said "nice meeting you...that's safer isn't it?" and that was it...he charged me noth... read more
Honest and good work. – After taking my car to Just Brakes who wanted $1300 to fix my brakes I took it to Yost on the urgings of several people. They fixed my car for $250, including an oil change! They didn't do as many "things" to my car, but they explained that I probably didn't need those things and if I did, we'd know soon enough and what they did do would still be needed.
