Its Okay – The food is good, but not anymore special then a regular asian restaurant. The prices are expensive. The service was good, but you can get the same quailty food for way cheaper.
ok dim sum – I've only tried the dim sum here. Having only tried the dim sum in 1 other Chinese restaurant, I shall not give a comparison. But, can say that some of their dim sum were decently cooked. In particular the ha kao(shrimp dumplings) and siew mai(pork dumplings). Other selections weren't too impressive. The cheong fun(flat noodles with pork in them) were too thick and not fradrant enough. The egg tarts were also not delicate, too hard.
One of my favs.. – Another stripmall jem. I you feel like passing on LeeAnnChins for a night, go here for a little more dough and enjoy! Frankly, I found the service to be professional, attentive & helpful; never rude, but maybe a little pushy if I were to find any negatives. The ambience is darker in the eve, romantic, if not a little smokey from the smoking section.. but quite a decent place to take a date for great reasonably priced food. I've been here several times over the last 7/8 years, never had I felt disappointed ... read more
get there early – We're at a disadvantage in the Twin Cities when it comes to good dim sum. Yangtze is one of a very few choices, and I'd put it at the middle of the albeit short list. The dining rooms are packed on weekends, and the later it gets, the slower the carts get. The secret is to arrive early, before the rush. The dishes were fine, but very heavy on shrimp. I felt like Bubba in Forrest Gump ... shrimp balls, shrimp wraps, shrimp dumplings, shrimp shrimp shrimp...
Best dim sum – Every Saturday and Sunday they have Dim Sum (Chinese Breakfast) You get catored, and the food is excellent, even things on their menu is so delicious!
Dim Sum a hit! – Went to Dim Sum this past weekend, and it was wonderful! The food was incredible. We experienced none of the delays or lack of service mentioned in other reviews. The food carts came around frequently, service was friendly, and three of us stuffed ourselves for under $40, including tip. We will definitely go back again. A tip: Get there early, when they open.
the yangtze restaurant is the best in mpls because it's cheap, near the city, and the food is REAL chinese that an american would like (the meat is real and not fatty)
Best in the MidWest – Great food, not generic like some. I have found none I like better... A bit on the expensive side but well worth the cost!
Overrated at best – This had one of the poorest Dim Sums I have experienced, even for MN. The ambience and overall food quality is average, but the service was also incredibly poor for a weekend rush when I was there. Stronger chinese restaurants can be found in the twin cities - the stip mall location is not ideal either.
