Good morning, I am writing in reference to a recent visit to the Yale New Haven Children's Hospital Emergency room. I was so fortunate to have meet some great doctors, but one nurse captured my heart. Her name is Sara Ferrantelli. My experience with her was amazing! I can't speak enough about her observations of my families needs, but most importantly she noticed my fears and took the time to come and sit with just me to talk about what was going on, reassuring me that the staff understood, and that she truly got it. My grandson had surgery November 10,2016 and they were wonderful before and after. We were getting ready to leave and I wasn't too pleased with the nurse while asking her questions of what to do while at home all she said was it's in your paperwork (firmly). I like to ask questions and go over everything before I leave in case I don't understand something. Just a little more empathy would have been nice. Other than that everyone else was very caring!
I had every detail of the birth of my first child planned out to the T. It was when I found out that I was going to have a cesarean birth that I realized not everything was going to go according to plan. It didn't matter that I hadn't prepared for a C-section or for my daughter to spend the first few days of her life in the NICU. My daughter was admitted to the children's hospital for an overnight EEG monitoring test. We were treated with genuine care by the staff and the accommodations were beyond my expectations; clean, bright and warm. Throughout our stay the physicians and nurses made my daughter feel safe and comfortable.
I've been here for the past 3 days with my Daughter and her Husband on the Labor & Birth Floor. The staff here is so friendly and patient. They give you options to help make decisions in your care. Yale staff keeps you comfortable as they work on a well thought out treatment plan for your hospital stay. I am very happy with the care my Daughter and Grand Daughter are receiving.
Yale is where I was born and everyone of my siblings and nieces and my daughter and baby boy except for my son and so far they been here and still standing!!
