The sushi & rolls here are amazing ! The perfect fusion of sushi & a little Mexican flare ! Never disappoints - when I Joan's for sushi Im mostly Joansing for Xevichez - a few things miss the mark for me but it's not the food - 1. The music level is always a bit to loud 2. The dining area is always a bit too cold but maybe I'm just showing my age :-/ 3. There's always a new waiter / waitress and for some reason we always get'm - that's my two cents, I'll deal with all the above cuz the sushi is way way way good !
This IS a version of 'normal' sushi, just not what people are used to seeing outside of Japan. It is one with salmon and another with white fish, done in boxes, pushed down like this so it is called Oshizushi,Pushed sushi.. which is then wrapped in persimmon leaves to keep it from going off in summer.. you can buy it at many train stations for a bento. i can get some for lunch in ten minutes on my way to work now if I want to. Had a late lunch with my girlfriends here on Saturday and it was awesome! It was not too busy and our service was friendly and fast. Everything we ordered was delicious. We read the rules for the "all you can eat" menu thoroughly so no surprises. We plan on making this our weekend lunch spot. That Xevichelada was pretty spectacular by the way.
