Dr. Hammonds is personable and very experienced with surgery. As long as he understands the question, he gives a good answer. If he doesn’t understand the question, it seems best to say “can you explain this in a non-doctor way?” (He is one of those doctors that uses lingo and will explain if you don’t understand, but you have to speak up for him to explain better). Cataract surgery was a joke. Vision is worse now than pre surgery. One post surgery next day follow up. No other follow up appointments scheduled. Made the sale. End of discussion. No communication from doctor in spite of repeated messages to report eye pain. Look elsewhere if you value your eye sight. Or if you want a doctor who treats you like a person. Not a number. This place is an assembly line factory. Don’t believe all the good reviews. They were just lucky not to have complications.

I have been through two eye cataract surgeries and subsequent visits. I can not say enough good things about Dr. Hammonds.

I am a patient of record for Dr. Hammonds. While he was rushed and a bit arrogant, I thought he was competent. This past Monday, August 22, 2022, late in the day I experienced a change in vision in my left eye. Floaters and distortion which can be a sign of serious issues such as retinol detachment. -Rushed 5 minute visit, after waiting 45 minutes. -Won’t renew prescribe contact lenses, even though he’s listed as an MD Ophthalmology Specialist. -Overcharged $15 more than original copay for the visit.

2nd time to see Dr. Hammonds, appts for both husband & myself. During Covid, patients crowded, some w/out masks, office loud, almost 1 hr wait. Eyes dilated, no explanation, had to drive 2 hrs, eyes unfocused, lucky to not have accident. Security guard at door wore mask under chin. Sent complaint letter, office lack of communication, finally paid bill, only to receive collection calls after pmt made. 5 calls to office, finally a business clerk found mistake. Office staff is unpleasant. Wait to see doctor is unacceptably long (over 45 mins) and at the end of the day not worth it to wait that long. Better to find a doctor and group that is happy to have new patients.

I have an elderly mom who has a serious eye problem; we were referred to Dr Hammond from an eye institute in Miami, as supposedly Dr Hammond could handle her issue; so far out of the two appointments that Dr Hammonds office made they have cancelled BOTH, leaving my mom now waiting a MONTH with an issue that is seriously incapacitating. We are now forced to try to find another doctor that can handle her problem--and we're that much farther behind. Why make an appt if you're not able to keep it??
