Chic lounge at Westwood's W Hotel where affluent and attractive are the only dress-code requirements. – The Scene Westwood and Hollywood hipsters enter this edgy bar in the W Hotel via an immaculate, frosted-glass staircase flanked by a cascading waterfall. The modern, open space is broken only by two ornamental partitions that vaguely separate the red, back-lit bar, expansive lounge areas and adjacent cafe. Like the jeans of its 20- and 30-something patrons, the lounge's leather couches are low-slung. Velvety chairs--includ... read more
W-orst bar ever – This is the worst and biggest rip off suposed to be "trendy" bar in L.A. If you want a good time check out some of the other hotel hot spots.
Red Velvet Ropes – Great place to feel special if you've got a lot of cash to drop.
only cool if you go to UCLA! – My company had it's Christmas party at the W last year. It's a really cool place, clean and modern looking. But it's filled with young UCLA college students who think they're the best thing to be walking the planet. Major attitude from people there. People I didn't even know. It was like a "club" and my walking in there I was tresspassing. It's unfortunate because it's a really neat place.
Weak – Great hotel, weak bar. Not nearly as nice as many W bars in other cities -- Underbar, Cherry, XYZ, Whiskey Sky, etc. Too spread out with no defined structure or presence. The velvet rope out front makes me laugh. The $10+ cocktails make me cry.
W-eak! – Might be fun if you are from the Mid-west...nothing cool about it. Rather bland decor, people and drinks...I stayed 15 minutes and dropped $40 on 2 drinks and parking. Not worth the time or money...If you want over priced drinks at least go somewhere where they are made well.
Mohitos Baby! – Yup, this place is very trendy. Nice decor. The outside patio has huge sofas and is awesome place to relax on summer nights. Drinks are pricey ~$11. But...Best Mohitos in Town! That's reason enough to try this place out!
Barf yuk barf – If you would like to see firsthand where LA gets it's cheesy reputation, check this place out. Cheeky twenty and thirtysomethings everywhere. And everyone wanted so badly to be mistaken for movie stars. Astronomical drink prices, and the worst posers LA has to offer.
W-hatever – Yes, this place is very pretentious but does it really matter? The decor is beautiful and the people are beautiful. It's a great place to take tourists. Show them the upscale, trendy world of Westwood. In spite of what others have written, I've never found the crowd to be too unfriendly. In fact, I've gotten into some great conversations there. It's fun to watch all of the people watching each other. Just don't think over think it.
