My family experienced a serious ethical violation while under Chris’s care. I also realize now that much of the treatment we received was not evidence based and some of it actually made things much worse for us. Also, Mr. Sturgeon does not hold a doctorate and is not a doctor. Doctor Sturgeon is a skilled and experienced therapist that has worked with me over several years now. While he himself is religious he has no trouble accommodating people of other religions or of no religion at all. Other reviewers have complained about logistical issues which may be perfectly valid but it is worth remembering that this is a one-man operation and he acts as his own secretary. He often can't answer the phone in favor of clients he is meeting with.

Avoid. If you're considering Chris because you think you need a therapist of the same faith as you, there are plenty of other options and faith shouldn't affect the course of therapy anyway. In the course of my appointments with Chris, there was never a plan for treatment or a diagnosis. I would go in hoping to discuss the issues I faced and instead could hardly get a word in as he launched into stories about himself (always portrayed as the hero!). Chris is knowledgeable, empathetic, and helps people utilize the tools within themselves to better understand and navigate their world by helping them understand their feelings and how that plays into their reactions and behaviors.

My daughter was treated at Westwinds and we had a very positive experience she was treated ethically and very professionally. I would highly recommend their services for mental health issues.
