Dr. Barr Stinks
Dr. Barr took over my Doctor's practice, and refused to refill my Vicoden prescription without first seeing me. I don't use much, 60 doses in one and a half months or so. I had to make my appointment 3 weeks in advance, and had to take a day off from work on top of that. I was kept waiting for more than an hour in the exam room. When I asked what took so long, he brushed me off and said paitients take as long as they take and sometimes they take longer than expected. I told him that I waited 3 weeks to see him and took the day off and it wouldn't have killed him to send someone in to tell me he'd be awhile, and that as my new doctor I expected better. He had nothing and didn't apologise.
During the visit he asked me how many Vicodens I used, I told him 60 in about 45 days, not many. He asked me why I waited so long to come in, I said it was tough to make an appointment and as every painkiller patient does, I had a stash saved up for just this type of thing. He refilled my prescription and said he wanted to see me again in 6 months. I told him I have a very stable pathology and he said it was still 6 months.
3 weeks later, I got a bill for the visit, it was $250. Good God.
2 months later, I went in and tried to get a refill, and it was refused. I was told that he was concerned that I went in for a refill so soon, and he wanted to see me at the clinic. Evidently he didn't listen to me during our last visit or didn't take notes, and couldn't be bothered to call me to ask what's up, but he was more than willing to have me shell out another $250 to repeat myself.
I tried to put a message in his clinic voicemail, he hasn't bothered to get a voicemail box. I left a message at the desk for him to call, and his Nurse called. I explained to her what was going on, and she insisted that I do as Doctor ordered. I told her flat out that I could get my meds off the street cheaper and more reliably than I could from Doctor Barr, and that if he didn't start paying attention I'd do just like I'd do with my Plumber if he upset me, he could consider himself FIRED. She said Vicoden is a controlled substance and I needed Dr. Barr to refill for me, and I said NO, There's plenty of Doctors around who'll be more than happy to step into his shoes and not jerk me around in the bargain, so tell him he's fired, and that I'm sending a complaint about him to the Community Hospital Board. What a knob. What do they call the fellow who graduates at the bottom of his class at Medical School? Doctor, of course! Good Grief!
I'm guessing that Mick A's review was written by Dr. Barr or someone who knows him. "Dr Steven Barr is a great all around physician. An excellent doctor." Seriously?
