Reality Check – Don't know who these nutcase reviewers are who claim this place or owner is a dog breeder because it/SHE isn't. Wabash places hundreds of rescue cats and dogs every year that otherwise would be euthanized. The owner and place is a neighborhood institution for decades and doesn't deserve to be falsely accused of being a puppy mill. If you love the country in the middle of the big city, go there, take your family, take your time, it's not just a store, it's a destination!

I am so disappointed in this place! – I am so disappointed with this place! I can not tell you how disappointed I am! I have been a customer for years, but not anymore! The workers at my house accidentally let my dog out and he disturbed a Guinea Fowl hen on about 4 dozen eggs. The hen hasn't been back all day, so I call WABASH asking if they took eggs, and they don't, which is ok. I then asked if they would stay open long enough for me to buy an incubator ( I called at 5:53 p.m.). They said they could not. I said they could... read more

Love the idea...hate dog/cat selling – I love that this store has been in business for 100 years, and a little bit of country right in the city. However, I hate that the owner is a large scale breeder. I won't go back to the store just for this reason. Too many homeless animals on the streets/shelters and puppy mills without adding to the mix. Make money from all your supplies and antiques, not breeding animals. Too bad.

OWNER IS A LARGE-SCALE COMMERCIAL DOG BREEDER – The owner says he is a USDA-inspected commercial dog breeder. He sells his puppies in the store. These facts have convinced me to never shop there.

Magical place with a few slight problems – I am new to Houston, and new to gardening. I came to Wabash on advice from my co-workers, and found the place to be delightful! It is a truly unique place, and has things I've never seen before. I talked to the Master Gardener- a guy - I forget his name, he has a goatee and wears a baseball cap. A suprising place in side the loop – Who would have thought you can buy chickens, rabbits and other farm animals well within site of the Houston Skyline on washington avenue. They also carry a great line of vegtables starter plants and fruit trees. Friendly staff and overall great customer experience.
