Waited close to fifteen minutes after being seated and never was greeted or acknowledged at our table in any way. Someone did chase us out to our car after we left to offer an explanation why we had been ignored, and to offer buy lunch for us. So that was a nice attempt to correct the situation, but...
Beautiful restored restaurant, gorgeous courtyard and plantings, excellent food and eclectic shopping, too!
I loved the Decor and antiques, the food very good and filling, there was plenty of it. Unfortunately our waiter who I believe was the manager/owner or something of that nature, became upset with another employee (a sweet older lady), about greeting customers, I'm all for having individuals greeted at the door, but he made a scene in front of a few tables mine included. After that is was a little awkward to have him as a server. I'll be back but hopefully not to hear someone get chewed out.
On multiple occasions we have been disappointed by the staff and management. Staff was unpleasant and rude to my guests for my college graduation event held there. The small business is also quick to turn guests away due to a stressed cook. When I approached the lady owner about recent issues with her business she spewed excuses including how her brother is very hard on their employees.. Not only is the ambiance and atmosphere hands down one of the most unique and beautiful in the Kansas City Metro (inside and out), the food we have had has been wonderful. We come for the patio for sure, but their wine list is adequate and affordable. We typically have apps and we adore the wild mushroom cheesecake served with toast points as well as sliced granny smith apple, strawberries, blue cheese drizzled with honey, and candied walnuts.
