Don't bother donating blood with Vitalant. They won't show up and they don't care. If you make an appointment they'll just cancel the blood drive without telling you and yet still email you daily about how important it is that you show up to an appointment they've canceled in order to "save lives." This seems to just be some sort of scheme to collect people's private information. My hematologist warned me about how sketchy and untrustworthy Vitalant is and I should have listened.
I've donated several times here, and the women who work here at fantastic! On one of the donations, I started feeling light headed. Everyone was immediately very attentive and provided me with lots of snacks/drinks and ice packs. One of the women even walked with me to use the bathroom to ensure I didn't pass out.
This is the most posh blood donation center I've ever been in. Great staff, good snacks, lots of windows near the donation area, even a fireplace! Nice bathrooms too.
I have donated blood to Central Blood Bank in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania for many years (nearing 100 times) and for the most part, have had positive experience. While there is occasional turnover in phlebotomists, I have been familiar with and totally trusting of those I've been served by. However, there seems to have been a negative change in general culture since Vitalant took over.
