Elegant Banquet Room! – My very dear friend just got married this past saturday, and the Wedding Rehearsal Dinner was held in Villa Romana's very elegant banquet room the day before. The room is non-pretentious, yet elegant, and very functional as it was able to accomodate our group of 40 quite comfortably. The servers were first rate and very enthusiastic about their restaurant, Villa Romana. the food was very authentic and delicious! I will definetely be back soon. Oh, and the owner, Tony is very cute!
best italian in san francisco – this is my favorite resturant for italian food. its really small and romantic and the service is better than anywhere else i've been. i go there a few times a month. the prices arent bad either, its worth it for the portions they give and the quality of the food.
Great Chicken Parm – This place serves the best chicken parmigiana i have ever tasted. the vegetables that come with it are fantastic too!
Wonderful little restaurant – My husband and I absolutely adore this little restaurant. The cuisine is very authentic and traditional Southern italian, and very yummy! I also really liked the owner and his son, they are both very courteous and knowledgeable about all things Italian!
Very cool brick pizza oven – We tried this pizza upon recommendation and found it to be very good. The pizza oven is made of brick, and i was told that it's the original one from the 50's. the pizza chef must be the owner because he took great pride in not only preparing the pizzas, but at making eyecontact with everybody, and asking "howsa the pizza, ehhh" Very charming guy!
Mama Mia!!! – I am completely amazed at how such a small little neighborhood pizzeria/trattoria can be so fabulous, and consistent too boot! The food and service are very authentic and never inconsistent. This is my 3rd time there and it was great all 3 times! The only issue that I can see is that it is so popular that it's hard to get in on any night, let alone on a weekend evening. I recommend making reservations online! Or, just say you are a friend of Tony's, the owner!
Be careful how they charge you – We were six and so we ordered two Antipasti. They came with quite a bit of food and we thought, Wow what huge portions. Later on we get the bill and see they charged us for 6 of one of the appetizers and 4 of the other. If you look carefully on the menu it says (per person) next to price. But when ordering they didn't ask us about how many we really wanted. Seemed a bit shady. I also printed out a coupon from their web site the day we went and it was already expired. So good food and atmosphe... read more
What A Great Italian Restaurant! – The food was absolutely stupendous. The fresh homemade Gnocchi Alla Sorrentina was the best dish of Gnocchi I have ever tasted here or in Italy....bar None! The service was very good, i mean the waiters were all working very hard to ensure the entire restaurant was very well taken care of. We felt like every one in the place was one table!!! Great Family Vibe!
Hate Singles – Adequate cuisine, but do not consider patronizing it during peak dining hours. The plastic potted plant in the corner will grow fruit before you are seated. Some years ago, I invited some friends to a restaurant on San Pablo Avenue in Berkeley which I had patronized 'years earlier and had been surprised by the quality of the food and service. The years between my visits had not been kind to the restaurant. Everything was as before, albeit shabbier, but the food was a horror. It seems that something similar has... read more
