Overall, this has been my experience: The outside appearance and whatever's been patched up inside, don't match the reality. Maybe some units are more updated and maintained than others, but-- apart from still needing small repairs and replacements-- the one I stayed in had very thin flooring and walls WITHOUT adequate soundproofing/ insulation. Update: there's a serious issue with the apartment filling up with the smells of cooking and household cleaner from the closest unit. I advise anyone with asthma from moving here. There's no way to prove these scents, so the renter is stuck with a bad situation. Getting enough recordings of noise issues after midnight has been hell. The most annoyingly tall speed bumps in all of Bakersfield
After I notified the office that we hadn't heard anything about renewing our lease, it was explained to us why, and we had new lease offers within 24 hours! Great service!
The apartment wasn't built with consideration to strangers having to be stuck sharing a ceiling/floor and such close proximity. Soundproofing and additional insulation are needed between the levels, to dull noise and increase privacy. Also, the vents oddly bring in smells from the connected bottom or top units. Although smoking is prohibited in places where it interferes with others, it is difficult to document, so I've had to smell cigarettes, marijuana, and incense smells coming through the vents.
