love this place – Best birthday ever! i don't know wat the person before me talks about , but I had the best party here. The manager was the friendliest and most helpful person I've met in a long time.Service , music, all was great.I'm back next birthday!!!
reality – Vig bar is a reflection of the neighborhood in which it stands, it is compact, dark, and comfortable early in the week. As the week moves on, people literally pack into this hotspot for the bartenders and dj's, this is something which is hard to find in new york, people go places according to who has been spotted there. But at vig, it seems like the thing I spot most are people having an amazing time. Vig is the best bar in nolita. hands down
Worst B. Day ever! – I reserved the back room for my B Day 3 weeks in advance, the deal was if I had under 30 people the manager might put a couple people at one table, I had about 27 (more than 50, not at the same time) The manager ended up letting anyone in, it got so crowded and smokey in there that some of my friends were uncomfortable and left. Great local bar – I was new to New York a few weeks back...and found The Vig by accident. The bartenders, bouncers and staff are great! They made me feel welcome and the drinks are fair priced...as fair as they get in NYC. Joel, another actress/bartender is a pleasure and full of energy. Clearly the locals and regulars all know her and she treats everyone with a warm Southern welcome (she's from Goergia) and a smile. Two thumbs up!
Underwhelmed – Its an average bar with severe drawbacks. The barstaff are a bit ignorant, the space is narrow and cramped and the accoustic makes it difficult to turn the music up without it being impossible to talk.
