About this business

Located in Buckhead, Varasano’s Pizzeria is home to what some critics consider the best pizza in Atlanta. Owner Jeff Varasano spent years traveling the globe and perfecting his pizza recipe in his home kitchen before opening a pizza joint of his own in 2009. Varasano’s offers thin crust New York style pizzas, piping hot and slightly charred around the edges. Traditional favorites like Margherita are on the menu as well as unique creations like the New Haven Clam or Dolce with Medjool dates and Fontina cheese. Sta... read more

All I can say is WOW – Varasano's Pizza is, hands down, the best pizza I have ever eaten. The crust is amazing, because Jeff has perfected his own yeast formula which makes for a perfectly cooked, scrumptiously charred, pizza. My favorite is the Nana's by far because of the exquisite blend of spices used in the pizza sauce itself. And I can never get tired of the Nana's cuz I can add pepperoni or their really good sausage... Next, my favorite would have to be the Salumi which is their meats pizza. They use the highest grade ... read more

Varasano's comes damn close to living up to the hype. – With his underground pizza parties reaching cult status, obsessed NY pizza blogger Jeff Varasano opened his restaurant with crazy hype swirling around it. NYC quality? Better than Fritti? Does he import the water? Once you get past the dramatics (and the corporate feel to the place) the pizzas are wonderfully unique, landing somewhere in between a NYC street slice and a Naples-style pie. Gourmet variations topped with arugula and capocollo instantly impress, but the Nan... read more

It's pizza from the future, baby. – In Short Pizza-obsessive blogger turned restaurateur Jeff Varasano, once famed for hosting private pizza parties, is spreading his purist pie gospel to the masses. Varasano’s namesake restaurant occupies a long, slender room in SoBu, boasting large window views of Peachtree Street along with an exposed kitchen bustling with white-clad pizza bakers. Thin-crusted pies are baked crispy at super-high temps for small amounts of time to elicit the signature char, bubbly cheese, and incredibly fl... read more

Try the caramelized onion – The caramelized onion pizza is hands down my favorite pizza in Atlanta. It's not your typical pizza - it's a white pie with emmanthaler cheese, caramelized onions, and fresh thyme. The freshness of the herbs make a big difference in the overall presentation and taste/aroma of the pizza. I've also had the Nana's (with fresh oregano on it) and the Margherita (with fresh basil). Freshness is a key word here, because that's what everything is. From the sauce to the cheese to the herbs, everything tast... read more

Excellent, Thin Crust Pizza – Went to Varasano's with a friend and we tried a margarita pizza and another with sausage both were delicious. I love the super thin crust pizza and it is much better than pizza I have had in New York.

GREAT authentic NYC Pizza – This is the closest thing to a true NYC thin-crust pie that you can get in Atlanta. Great thin crust, great sauce, perfect cheese. Indeed, Varasano's works with this medium the way other artists might work on canvas or with clay. Decent toppings (esp sausage), too, but the stripped-down Margherita with just cheese and basil requires no additional window-dressing. It is simply excellent. "Trendy-casual" atmosphere and nice place for a date as well.

Rude Service. Avg Pie – Very rude service. Never heard of a pizza joint that will NOT allow you to take pie to go. Good luck with that. Pizza was decent for Atlanta but mediocre at best by NYC standards.

All The Hype Just Didn't Deliver! – All of us in the Buckhead/Brookwood area having been waiting for Varasano's. Even those of us, who were invited to Jeff Varasano's home for pizza, and it was great, were waiting to open. The space is hip, great bar area. And the servers are right on. But alas, the pizza's just didn't deliver. They were all soggy in the center, with liquid in the pizza serving pan. The crust around the pizza was very dry, and remined us of Matzo! Maybe it has something to do with using electric ovens. Atlan... read more

Excellent choice for authentic pizza – We've been searching for great pizza for over 4yrs. since we relocated here, in atlanta. But what we found in our previous search was close but not quite right. So my sister saw this news segment of a new restaurant the day before her birthday and wanted to give this place a try...maybe they have good authentic NY style pizza! But what we found was authentic Italian pizza which is a much better find. The ingredients were fresh and each bite was delectably light. We had two desserts and ... read more
