The Urban Farmer is Good Eatin' I had the opportunity to have lunch this week in downtown Portland at the Urban Farmer which is located inside The Nines Hotel. I found this place to be refreshingly different and quite tasty. My lunch consisted of a unique combination of grits, pulled pork, an egg, and spicy shrimp. The prices are high, but the food, ambience, and service are excellent.
The service was excellent, couldn't have asked for better! All courses were served timely and we never waited for refills of our beverages. The staff was extremely knowledgeable without any pretenses. Of course the food was AMAZING!!
Service was great. Waiter was very knowledgable and eagerly answered all questions. The steaks were melt in your mouth!
Food was just mediocre. I think it was the space that set the tone for me. It appears to have once been a space used for the courtesy “continental breakfast” offered at many hotels. It’s sometimes an atrium space in the middle of a hotel, which this is. It was difficult to TRY and turn this into an upscale eatery, as hard as they may try. C+ at best. WAY overpriced and totally not worth it

Ambience is good. Food was average.
Urban Farmer is always a highlight when we stay at the hotel and this trip was no different. We had dinner and my steak was so tender and flavorful. It practically melted in my mouth. Brunch the next morning also did not disappoint. I had the duck hash and it was the perfect combination of flavors. The egg on top was cooked to perfection. Both meals the wait staff were excellent. I highly recommend for a great meal experience!
