I went to Shadyside on 12-3-21 for a heart catherization. I found the grounds to be spotless, I was very impressed by every single employee there. From the nurses to the ladies working the information booths. The staff made me feel like a VIP and I am just a regular Joe. They showed empathy and compassion and were very personable, I feel like i made a few friends while there. Special shout out to Beth Buchanon in the short stay unit. My friend, Nancy, had heart surgery 8 days ago. She was moved from ICU to a regular room. Nancy has been mistreated by Melissa Casey, a. nursing assistant. Ms. Casey ridiculed Nancy for having a bowel movement. Later, Nancy had to urinate and hit the call button twice for assistance. Ms. Casey responded 2 hours later. I will start here and as of this review I have left messages and I will be sending complaints next. My Daughter ( 23 ) called me in tears because urgent care asked her to go to the hospital. Shadyside was the closest. Her A1C was 13 ... yes 13 , and they gave her an IV and sent her on her way with a Blood Sugar of 321. Did I mention that my daughter didn't know she was even diabetic? This is a thank you to several random employees at Shadyside Hospital. I visited my brother this afternoon and was wandering back to the parking garage. Must have looked lost because some nice kid asked If I needed directions. I didn't ask him, he was just that nice. He showed me a nice short cut by heading outside, then back in. There was a Guard near the parking kiosk who noticed I was having a little trouble there as well. It's an out of date hospital just the opposite of UPMC East. Small TVs, lousy remotes require you go through all channels, beds that would kill a healthy person if you laid on them long enough, lay in recovery god knows how long waiting for a room, always a wait for transportation from one location to another, allways must ask for pain meds then wait until they get to you, recliner chair for manual operation, stiff just bad hospital for comfort. The staff is the best!
Shadyside is a good name for this hospital because they give shady service. If they are too busy to properly take care of their patients, they need to send some away! They are BAD!
Use Centre garage instead of Aiken. They help you and more handicapped parking.
Was this provider's office too loud? Not at all, it was very peaceful and quiet
