Think long and hard before going to the ER at UPMC Altoona. Expect to be in the ER at least 2 days. Expect to be in a police state. Expect your belongings to be gone through. Make sure you take someone with you because the nurses have to many patients to take care of you. I would recommend ANY other hospital. The staff is wonderful but that doesn't make up for the fact that there just isn't enough of them to do their job.
It's a sad day when women in the community cannot get an ultrasound. Having irregular bleeding after a miscarriage was not considered urgent and I was told it would be a minimum of $1,000 for an ultrasound. $500 that needed to be paid upfront. Just disgusting.
Dr. Was rude, when I ask her about time off work she ask when I was to go back ( vacation time ) I told her like 4 days. I tried to explain my duties at work and she brushed them off. I lift 40 lbs., walk 300 feet and 2 flights of stairs to go to the bathroom and driving hurt because it was my right side. My doctor told me that specialists do not send a patient back to a primary when a fracture is possible. When I ask about a wheel chair the nurse said “ do you think you really need one” I bruised from my hip all the way to ... read more
Very disappointed and left down with the care that UPMC was to bring to Somerset Hospital when they merged back on February 1, 2019. Fast forward almost 9 months to the day and patients of UPMC Somerset Urology still waiting on equipment that patients need for their care. Maybe they should have thought of the patients and worked something out with Triangle Urology to stay for a few months longer....atleast they had the equipment. So here I am 2 months past due for my checkup for bladder cancer, which I tested positive for 4 ... read more
Staff at UPMC in Erie are rude and not customer oriented. I, along with 3 elderly people, were in line at the food area waiting to order our breakfast sandwiches. A younger employee in light blue smocks or hospital attire walked right up in front of all of us and ordered his food without inquiring or acknowledging those in line. I know he was staff because those making samdwiches acknowledged him and had a little conversation about his sandwich choice as he was unsure about it initIally. I guess his morning sandwich was more... read more
Follow through on consults. Actually be committed to finding answers and do not discharge when it is clearly not medically safe to do so.
if you go they will tell you different things each day not constant at all, if you try getting medical records they will not send out the release form regardless how many times you try.. Pittsburgh will do anything to prevent you from going to a competitor hospital. My gf has had misdiagnoses by all their medical centers and hospitals multiple times. Make sure you can get a release form you can do on your own fax machine or by email...
Short and to the point. Horrible. Rude. And not just one specific nurse or floor.. ALL OF THEM. Rude and very inattentive nurses. Unanswered questions. Lack of empathy and awful bedside manner from several doctors.
