Is there a reason that UP Mall decides to stay open in this kind of weather? Were expecting 18 inches of snow or more by tonight and you still expect people to come to work? Everywhere else in th county has closed, and even all of the trailer factories in Elkhart have closed. If they can afford to lose a day of production in all plants, you can afford to close for one day. You just have to pick between lining your pockets or your employees safety. Although it appears that choice has already been made.

We used to love going to the mall. I would take my kids to the play area and often get a coffee at Starbucks and lunch at the food court. The play area used to make it a nice way to relax and let the kids burn off energy. Now with so many openings, it is just too stressful to go. I have to be hyper vigilant. Kids run in opposite directions, and I can't sit down, let alone drink my coffee. I am no longer taking my kids to the play area. It's just not safe. So that means I am no longer shopping at the mall because I always hav... read more

I’m not terribly pleased with the new play area. There are too many exits. With two small children it is difficult to keep an eye on both. We used to go to the mall regularly and patronize the businesses, spend money, and then allow the children to blow off steam before we went home. It’s not safe to have so many exits in the play area.

This mall does not allow performers to put out jars for tips and does not pay performers when they provide their time and talent to enhance the shopping experience. They put a piano and stages up in busy places, beg people to preform, and then rudely tell performers that they can’t collect tips. We will not be returning next year and will be petitioning Shirks to withdraw their support of this mall as well.

Love the mall but parking is always a nightmare. The parking spots are really small when you have a mini van. I like how they have a play area for the kids.

I live in Highland Indiana. I travel through NICTD South Shore Line Train, and South Bend Transpo Bus. This is my favorite mall in Indiana. Very clean mall. Very upscale mall. They have restaurants like Bar Louie, Five Guys Burgers and Fries, Granite City Food & Brewery, and more in food court. My favorite stores at U.P. Mall is Barnes & Noble, Apple, Tilly’s, and Banana Republic. They even got Gloria Jean’s Coffees, and Starbucks. This mall is even best for South Bend Transpo bus stop and bus transfers. I’ll def be coming b... read more

Overall I like the mall however the highlight with my 2 year old would always be the play area. Whoever designed it or ordered the play equipment apparently doesn't have any kids. It's the worst set up I've ever seen, there's so many safety concerns. It's not enclosed making it a lot easier for little ones to run off. The slide has no stairs. The thing with all the holes in it is unsafe. I saw a couple younger kids fall thru it, one kid got his head stuck, another kid went in a hole feet first and couldn't get out plus the a... read more
