I was recommended from Roanoke ... I had herniated disc and pinched nerve— Dr. Shimer was the BEST doctor, him and his care team I can’t say enough. I was surprised to be out patient- but my stay was EXCELLENT- I’ll rate it as way above 10! UVA has messed up my treatment not once but twice. First by preforming the wrong test that made my treatment for cancer delayed the second time they didn't order the correct tests and wasted my time and pushed out my treatment due to time constraints on the testing to be done. I no longer have any trust they can complete their jobs, they have shown me nothing but incompetence and will be seeking treatment elsewhere.

I have been a patient of Dr. Vanessa M. Shami since 2015, when my GI doctor relayed that I needed to see a specialist. Dr. Shami is one of the friendliest and approachable doctors that I have.
