University of Miami Hospital presents itself as a major academic medical institution, but my impression was deeply disappointing. The name and branding suggest excellence, advanced care, and professionalism, yet the actual experience felt far below that image. Highly recommend UM's ORAL MAXILLOFACIAL SURGERY CLINIC. Lots of Do-Gooders from the front staff onward who care, are patient, and do it painlessly. Special kudos for Mariela Caballero, DDS-- and her friendly assistant-- for her approach to overseeing the work of future dentists and for laughing at my jokes and Nicolle Saint-Felix, RDH, who will wow you with the way she cleans teeth-- extensively and painlessly. Yeah, and she does it with a sense of humor, too. Good group of people, can't go wrong.
This was by far the most horrific hospital experience of my life. Sitting in the emergency room for over 6 hours waiting to be seen by a doctor while in pain and needing help is completely unacceptable. The lack of attention and compassion from both nurses and doctors was beyond disappointing. Instead of listening and properly evaluating the situation, there was misdiagnosis, poor communication, and a complete lack of urgency or care for patient needs.
