When my husband's regular dermatologist retired, he went to Dr. Stewart Campbell, a dermatologist whose office happened to be at UConn Health John Dempsey Hospital. When he went into the office, he had to sign all the new patient forms including, among all the pages, a notification in fine print that he might incur a facility fee depending on his insurance. He had his annual skin check and walked out with what turned out later to be over $1000 for the facility fee. Altogether he was billed over $2000 for this routine exam! A... read more
BEWARE, If you go to a physician site that is affiliated with Dempsey Hospital you may be subject to a very large "Facility Fee". I went for a routine appointment at the Dermatology office 21 South Rd Farmington. Beside the bill for services, I also received a bill for $1,100 facility fee. This was not pointed out clearly up front or I obviously would not have gone.

I had visit for my mother's test today. The appointment was scheduled at Farmington CT when I requested them to provide an appointment at Hartford center. They should have told us that Hartford facility does not have radiology so I could have scheduled it somewhere else. Also they did not guide us properly on x-ray section as well. They just sent us from one building to another and back to square one. Finally we did not do test on that day. This is very pathetic and poor management and guidance to patients. My experience is that the Neurology Department is not very caring about patients. Appointments are cancelled constantly. You wait months for an appointment, only to have them abruptly cancel. Then you are back to waiting. Phone calls are rarely returned even after we had an ER visit where ER doctors told us to call the neurologist for an immediate appointment due to nature of emergency. WATCH YOUR BACKS!!! For the past 15 years I have all my doctors here as I have a number of health concerns and love them all. I ended up in the ER last year as the doctor said to go there as they were not able to help with the issue and I was treated and went home. The emergency room is awful. Needs alot of work. Been there twice in the past couple weeks and the staff both need more education and training.

I had my first baby at Uconn Health September 1st, 2019. I received nothing but exceptional and top notch care from the second we called Labor and Delivery until we went home. My daughter ended up having to be rushed to the NICU the day after she was born. I was completely terrified, but the nurses in maternity were so comforting.
