I was helping my UW Madison daughter find her first apartment since she was not able to get back into the dorms this fall. I’m a returning tenant at University Bay Apartments, and unfortunately my overall experience has been extremely frustrating. Shortly after moving in, I was shocked multiple times by the light switches, which was genuinely concerning. During warmer months, I dealt with an ongoing gnat problem. When I first moved in, there was also mold inside my kitchen cabinets. The most serious issue was a tree root in my drain line, which left me unable to flush my toilet for over a week. I stayed at university bar apartments over summer 2025. Good area and nice management. But I’ve had them come fix the A/C twice and my room still reaches 90 degrees during the day with an additional 3 fans running. Probably a good place to stay over the school year but would definitely not recommend over the summer.
I lived at University Bay (2116 building) for four years and overall, I had a great experience. Nothing horrible to report. If you are considering this property, you’ve toured it and you like it, nothing I will say should stop you from making this spot your new home.
