This morning (6/23/2026 @ 9:00am) I showed up for my colonoscopy with Dr. Brian Lim after a half day and long night of prep, only to be met with rude and unprofessional treatment at the front desk. One older receptionist was especially hostile — she interrogated me with why (3 times) in an aggressive tone and asked me the same question about my stool color three times so every patient in the waiting area can listen to the humiliation. Staff here is super unprofessional. Nick was at the front desk dropping F bombs left and right discussing his personal life very loudly. Dr. Chou was over an hour late for his first appointments. Do they forget that despite being doctors, they are the patient's employee? PHI is overheard everywhere. Nothing here is HIPAA compliant.
The nurses at United Surgery Center were very professional and friendly. Unfortunately after my colonoscopy I had really bad cramps and my stomach swollen with a lot of pain I ended up twice at the ER it’s been almost a month and I’m still taking medication for constipation . I got no explanation from anyone for the cause of the cramping and swelling for such a longtime, although the pain is getting better my stomach still swollen. This was my first colonoscopy and I'm so glad Kaiser referred me to United Surgery Center, Irvine. Dr. Brian Lim and the whole staff were super nice and welcoming, which made me feel really comfortable. Everyone was so kind, patient, and professional, which helped take away a lot of the nerves I had going in. Kathy, my pre-procedure nurse, who did my IV was amazing.
